Guardianship
How Does it Work?
A guardian is someone who is chosen or appointed to make legal decisions for another person who is unable to make those decisions on their own whether due to age or disability.
Can I be a Guardian?
The guardian is typically an adult who is chosen by a court or an individual’s will to make decisions on behalf of an individual who cannot make decisions for him or herself, such as a minor or an adult with special needs. In some situations, a family friend or relative may also want to petition for guardianship.
Whatever your situation, our attorneys are prepared to help you understand the basics of guardianship, types of guardianship, and the process to establish guardianship.
